The Way I See It #238...

"Have you noticed that dogs are the new kids? You take a walk with your kid and your dog, but nobody says, "What a cute kid!" Instead they say, "What a cute dog! What's his name? Is he a rescue?" Maybe if I put a collar and leash on my kid someone will notice her."

Again, my absence from here has been a long one. Things have gotten extremely busy on so many different levels - the adoption, the business, our normal jobs. Craziness has ensued.

I'm hoping to have some more time to blog here, but I can't promise anything. Life's crazy.

Time Well Wasted
as sung by Brad Paisley
Ashley Gorley/Kelley Lovelace (ASCAP)

I could've been workin' overtime
Or at home tryin' to make that truck run right
Instead of wadin' out in that stream
All day long barely catchin' a thing
Just me and dad
I'm glad he talked me in to that

It was time well wasted
And there's no way I trade a few more dollars in my pocket I could've spent
For a day I'll never forget
No, I didn't get a thing done
But I sure soaked up every minute of the memory we were makin'
And I count it all as time well wasted

Those leaves were a foot deep in the yard
And 'wash me' was written all over the car
But watchin' movies all day with you
Wasn't on my list of things to do
But we laid on that couch
Girl, we never left the house

It was time well wasted
And there's no way I trade a few more things that I could've crossed off my list
For a day I'll never forget
No, I didn't get a thing done
But I sure soaked up every minute of the memory we were makin'
And I count it all as time well wasted

This world spins too fast if you let it
There's always one more thing to do
But lookin' back I never have regretted
Takin' off early or callin' in sick
Or lovin' away a Sunday afternoon

It was time well wasted
And there's no way I trade a few more dollars or things crossed off my list
For a day I'll never forget
No I didn't get a thing done
But I sure soaked up every minute of the memory we were makin'
And I count it all as time well wasted

I count it all as time well wasted

Where are we? What the hell is going on?
The dust has only just begun to fall,
Crop circles in the carpet, sinking, feeling.
Spin me round again and rub my eyes.
This can't be happening.
When busy streets a mess with people
would stop to hold their heads heavy.

Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines.
All those years they were here first.

Oily marks appear on walls
Where pleasure moments hung before.
The takeover, the sweeping insensitivity of this
still life.

Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines. (Oh, you won't catch me around here)
Blood and tears,
They were here first.

Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that you only meant well? Well, of course you did.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it's all for the best? Ah off course it is.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it’s just what we need? And you decided this.
Mmm what you say?
Mmm, What did she say?

Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth.
Mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut-outs.
Speak no feeling, no I dont believe you.
You don't care a bit. You don't care a bit.

Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth.
Mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut-outs.
Speak no feeling, no I don't believe you.
You don't care a bit. You don't care a bit.

You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.

Yes, I've been absent from posting a new journal entry for a while. We've been quite busy with work and the adoption process.

We're scheduled to take CPR/First Aid classes soon and we are all looking forward to it. After that, we go through some more background checks and then submit our homestudy paperwork.

I'm sorry this is so short but life is super busy and this is all the time I have for posting right now.

Take care and drop a line...

"Love, Love, Love" - Tristan Prettyman
http://www.myspace.com/tristanprettyman

It’s 4 am
The paperboy’s at it again
But I can’t get no sleep
I mean what’s the point?
If I can’t even dream up a dream
That’s worth the keep

And so there’s no need in even going
Cause I’m better off never knowing
You know the media’s getting
Really good at lying
And this time around
I’m not buying

Cause this life is a beautiful one
And though I seen it comin undone
I know most definitely
That it’s gonna be you
It’s gonna be me
So baby keep your head up
Keep it on the up and up
Cause you got all my…
Love love love

Cause we’re all just lovers and takers
Breaking hearts to make the papers
She wants love I told her to stop trying
Cause the reasons for her tears
Aren’t worth crying

And this life is a beautiful one
And though I seen it comin undone
Well I know most definitely
That it’s gonna be you
It’s gonna be me
So baby keep your head up
Keep it on the up and up
Cause you got all my
Love love love

Loving all around me
I think that love has found me
Loving all the time

And when the summer’s here
The waves are crashing
No time for thinking
Don’t even ask me
I’m gonna let it all roll right past me
Cause when I’m here
I’m always happy

And this life is a beautiful one
And though I seen it comin undone
Well I know most definitely
It always works out the way it’s meant to be
So baby keep your head up
Keep it on the up and up
And know that you got all my
Love love love

"New Shoes" - Paolo Nutini

Woke up cold one tuesday,
I'm looking tired and feeling quite sick,
I felt like there was something missing in my day to day life,
So i quickly opened the wardrobe,
Pulled out some jeans and a T-Shirt that seemed clean,
Topped it off with a pair of old shoes,
That were ripped around the seams,
And i thought these shoes just don't suit me.

Hey, I put some new shoes on,
And suddenly everything is right,
I said, hey, I put some new shoes on and everybody's smiling,
It so inviting,
Oh, short on money,
But long on time,
Slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine,
And i'm running late,
And i dont need an excuse,
'cause i'm wearing my brand new shoes.

Woke up late one thursday,
And i'm seeing stars as i'm rubbing my eyes,
And i felt like there were two days missing,
As i focused all the time,
And i made my way to the kitchen,
But i had to stop from the shock of what i found,
A room full of all my friends dancing round and round,
And i thought hello new shoes,
Byebye them blues.

Take me wondering through these streets,
Where bright lights and angels meet,
Stone to stone they take me on,
Im walking to the break of dawn.

Take me wondering through these streets...

Texas weather...

It's frickin' 30 degrees with freezing rain. Crazy. Most radio stations are calling it "The South Texas Winter Blast!"

Mike, who grew up in Connecticut, gave me the "how to drive in ice" speech over and over this morning. So I made it to work and am doing what I can until it gets worse. I'm sure we won't be here too much longer. Actually, it's only one other person and I. We're the nuts that braved the elements to make it in.

On a funny note, our pets have no idea what to do in this weather. They run around and bark at the wind. Then they run in freaking out 'cause it's so cold outside. Heck, they won't even go outside to do their business. Brrrr!

I'll keep you guys posted on the weather for those of you who read our blog on a regular basis. You can always go to our links page and look at the weather here in Cibolo.

Christmas Time Is Here

Christmas time is here
Happiness and cheer
Fun for all that children call
Their favorite time of the year

Snowflakes in the air
Carols everywhere
Olden times and ancient rhymes
Of love and dreams to share

Sleigh bells in the air
Beauty everywhere
Yuletide by the fireside
And joyful memories there

Christmas time is here
We'll be drawing near
Oh, that we could always see
Such spirit through the year
Oh, that we could always see
Such spirit through the year...

I'm sure it's like this in other parts of this country, but frickin' Texas weather never ceases to amaze me. When I woke up this morning it was about 61 degrees. Now it's 36 degrees. We are under a severe weather alert too. Yeah - we Southern Texas don't know how to drive in ice, much less rain.

What makes it even funnier is that our offices still have the A/C cranked. I'm glad I'm wearing a wool sweater with a tee underneath.

Just when I thought I could sit down and enjoy my day, I get a phone call. There are still websites that have not been fixed. Ugh! So I contact the techs and they are like "Oh, we would have to rollback to last night, but we needed your permission first." Why not call me or something?! Grrrr...

I really need to learn about hosting my own server or maybe I should just move us to a new host. bleh.

So while grocery shopping at 7am, I get a phone call from my boss that our websites have been hacked. Ugh. It so sucks to have to be called in to deal with it. Granted I could have worked on it from home, but all my files were at the office and this weekend, I just happened to turn off my computer.

I've got 1 of our 3 sites up. But I also got our most important client up and running. So I'm relieved about that...and I'll just let the hosting company worry about the rest.

Last Goodbye (Jeff Buckley)

This is our last goodbye
I hate to feel the love between us die.
But it's over
Just hear this and then I'll go:
You gave me more to live for,
More than you'll ever know.

Well, this is our last embrace,
Must I dream and always see your face?
Why can't we overcome this wall?
Baby, maybe it's just because I didn't know you at all.

Kiss me, please kiss me,
But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation.
Oh, you know it makes me so angry 'cause I know that in time
I'll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye.

Did you say, "No, this can't happen to me"?
And did you rush to the phone to call?
Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind saying,
"Maybe, you didn't know him at all,
you didn't know him at all,
oh, you didn't know"?

Well, the bells out in the church tower chime,
Burning clues into this heart of mine.
Thinking so hard on her soft eyes, and the memories
Offer signs that it's over, it's over.

yeah, I think it applies well...

It's a nice fall day. I really enjoy this weather. Although, it makes me wish I was at home instead of working. Oh well...the bills need to be paid. ;)

The boss is back from vacation, but it's really quiet here. Lots of the staff are ill and called in sick today. Just listening to woxy.com and getting work done. I'm working another late shift.

There's not a whole heck of a lot more to add to that. I've just been working a lot of nights. My days are pretty much in the 10-12 hour range lately. Then I go home to do some computer work.

Yup. I've got no life and I am officially lame.
